Our history

A Legacy of Treaty 6

Our history is rooted in the resilience and wisdom of our ancestors.

  1. 1876

    Treaty 6 is signed

Chief Wuttunee, who led our people at the time, appointed his brother, Chief Red Pheasant, to sign the treaty on behalf of the Band.

  2. 1878

A home in the Eagle Hills

Our people settled in the fertile lands of the Eagle Hills, establishing a permanent home where we could maintain our traditional ways while adapting to agriculture.

  3. Today

    Upholding the treaty

For over a century we have remained steadfast in upholding the spirit and intent of Treaty 6, protecting our Inherent and Treaty Rights.

“For as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the rivers flow.”
